Building Societies And The Conduct Of Long Leaseholders
EDM number 2247 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Lewis on 01/07/1993.
That this House is concerned at the practice currently being adopted by some building societies in capitulating to the demands of dubious property management companies by paying outstanding ground rents and charges on behalf of mortgagees without their knowledge or approval; believes this to be tantamount to colluding with those companies whose sole interest is to extract money from home owners using dubious business methods; and therefore calls upon the Building Societies Assocation and the Council of Mortgage Lenders to stop member societies from acting in this way.
