Tribute To Mr Jim Slater

That this House pays tribute to the work of the late Jim Slater as General Secretary of the National Union of Seamen (now RMT) in his tireless efforts to improve the wages and conditions of British seafarers and his determination to seek justice for the families of the M.V. 'Derbyshire'; and notes that Jim Slater was a staunch supporter of the campaign to revive the British Merchant Fleet and that his last contribution to the seafarers was to march with the veterans at the recent Battle of the Atlantic and Western Approaches commemoration in Liverpool.
