Washington Gas Showroom Closure

EDM number 221 in 1992-93, proposed by Roland Boyes on 10/06/1992.

That this House condemns the decision of British Gas Northern to close the gas showroom in Washington; further considers the decision as outrageous in view of the rapid growth of population in the large conurbation of Washington; realises that it will lead to grave inconvenience for many groups of people including pensioners, the disabled and parents with pre-school children who could have to travel into Sunderland or Newcastle to choose appliances; and calls upon the Regional Chairman of British Gas Northern, Mr J H S Marris, to withdraw the offensive threat of closure.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
