Support Management Group

That this House is concerned about the Ministry of Defence's decision to approve plans to relocate the Support Management Group, the organisation responsible for the provisioning of the equipment to support the RAF, Royal Navy and Army fixed wing and rotary aircraft, from its current base in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, to RAF Wyton within the boundaries of the Prime Minister's own constituency; sees such a re-location as misguided, particularly as other options available are both more cost effective and sensible as they would not lead to the loss of 800 jobs and more than 250 workers being forced into relocation to keep their jobs; and calls upon the Prime Minister to hold a full inquiry into this matter before any transfers of personnel or equipment take place.
