Burma
EDM number 2127 in 1992-93, proposed by John Garrett on 09/06/1993.
That this House calls for the United Nations to support international sanctions against Burma, given its government's appalling human rights record, and to request the release of the lead of the pro-democracy movement Aung San Suu Kyi; further supports the 'Don't Fuel the Oppression' campaign of the Burma Action Group UK which points to the heavy reliance of the Burmese government on investment by foreign oil companies; and draws attention to investment in Burma by Amoco, Total and Texaco.
This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs.
