Lady Porter And Illegal Payments

EDM number 212 in 1992-93, proposed by Tony Banks on 09/06/1992.

That this House congratulates The Observer newspaper for drawing public attention to the illegal channelling of some ú100,000 from the so-called charitable Foundation for Business Responsibilities to Market Force Communications to run a political campaign on behalf of Westminster Tories; notes the illegal activity of Shirley Porter and Michael Ivens of the shadowy right-wing organisation `Aims of Industry'; believes that had a Labour council been involved in such illegal activity the Government would have demanded action by the courts; and further believes that the corrupt practices of Lady Porter and Troy-controlled Westminster Council require a full investigation and report by the Charity Commission.

This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs.
