Toxic Shock Syndrome (No.5)

EDM number 2114 in 1992-93, proposed by Mark Fisher on 08/06/1993.

That this House welcomes the first National Tampon Day which seeks to raise awareness of the problems and dangers of tampons, especially of the rare but sometimes fatal disease toxic shock syndrome; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to introduce a Tampon Safety Bill which would enforce warnings of toxic shock syndrome on tampon boxes and include them in advertising, regulate standards within the industry, provide funding provision for an education programme and independent research into the disease, take VAT off all sanitary protection products and standardise the size and absorbency of tampons.
