Conduct Of The Secretary Of State For Health
EDM number 2105 in 1992-93, proposed by Martin Redmond on 07/06/1993.
That this House condemns the Secretary of State for Health for her consistent and callous indifference towards the parents of children killed, or damaged, in National Health Service hospitals; notes that after failing to hold an open inquiry into the dozens of children involved at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, and insulting their parents with a regional charade, which did nothing but tell the parents that more children are damaged in Western Australia and Sweden, the Secretary of State now refuses to publicly examine the further management incompetence which resulted in the murder and permanent damage to the children in Grantham; considers that it is notable that in both cases the hospitals are within the management jurisdiction of the Trent Regional Health Authority; and in view of the Secretary of State compounding her indifference with the open obstruction to every effort to expose the truth at Grantham, considers she has shown herself totally unfit to hold office; and calls on the Prime Minister to replace her forthwith.
