Specialty Reviews And St Bartholomews Hospital
EDM number 2084 in 1992-93, proposed by Brian Sedgemore on 25/05/1993.
That this House notes that St. Bartholomew's Hospital has confirmed that all six specialty reviews have recommended that its specialist services should be moved out of the hospital; notes that some of those conducting the reviews have admitted that they have been used as pawns by the Government; notes that some of those conducting the reviews have admitted that they recommended a transfer of services to the London Hospital even though they accept that Bart's has better research, better equipment, better clinical work and better results; notes that those carrying out the reviews have said that they have not been guided by medicine or science but have been told to operate on the basis that there are green field sites and unlimited sums of money to relocate resources from Bart's which the Government wants to shut; and calls on Bart's to seek a judicial review on the basis that the Government is acting in bad faith in one of its hysterical attempts to close one of the best hospitals in the world.
