Medium Surface To Air Missiles
EDM number 2064 in 1992-93, proposed by Archy Kirkwood on 24/05/1993.
That this House recognises the need for Her Majesty's Government to develop and deploy a medium range surface to air missile to provide adequate defensive cover for United Kingdom aircraft and airfields from attack by stand-off airlaunched missiles; recognises the economic benefit to the United Kingdom companies who would design and manufacture the missile; and urges sympathetic consideration to be given to the Raytheon/BAe proposal for a Patriot/Rapier 2000 system as being a reliable, effect and economical method of meeting the technical specifications set by the Ministry of Defence.
