Price Of Contact Lens Solutions;amdt. Line 1:

EDM number 2062A1 in 1992-93, proposed by Roger Sims on 09/07/1993.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'welcomes the report of the Monopolies and Mergers Commission on contact lens solution; notes, in particular, that "the application of the UK product licensing requirements to contact lens solution has significantly slowed the introduction of new products on to the UK market, compared with other developed countries"; looks forward to the early implementation of the EC directive on medical devices, "which is expected to lead to more products being allowed into the UK market"; notes the recommendation that the retailing of solutions should be opened up to all retailers subject to certain standards of storage and product recall; notes, however, that, if consumers change solutions without professional advice or choose the wrong solution, this can cause problems or even damage to eyes; believes that solutions are best sold on the advice of qualified pharmacists, optometrists and dispensing opticians; and welcomes the restatement by the British College of Optometrists of its long-standing guidelines to its members on advice to patients about the costs of contact lens wear.

This is a ammendment to 2062.
