Kenya Government Press Harassment

EDM number 2009 in 1992-93, proposed by Peter Hain on 13/05/1993.

That this House is deeply concerned that the relentless attacks by the Moi Government upon the opposition press in Kenya over the past 18 months have eventually forced both "Finance" and "Society" magazines to suspend publication; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to exert maximum diplomatic pressure and to suspend all aid to Kenya until real Press freedom is restored in that country.
