That this House is intrigued to note that the English Grand Lodge, the first to be constituted, will celebrate its 275th anniversary this week and that its hierarchy includes levels known as 'degrees' with names such as Secret Master, Intimate Secretary, Scotch Knight of Perfection, Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander, Grand Elected Knight Kadosh and Grand Inspector General; wonders which, if any, Right honourable or honourable Members may be among those exalted to such heights and whether their parliamentary experience has in any way equipped them for their tasks; and believes the Order excludes women because their amusement at bloodcurdling oaths, knobbly knees and decorative aprons would be injurious to the dignity it strives to maintain.
