That this House notes the resignations of Lord Skidelsky and Dr John Marenbon from the Schools Examination and Assessment Council; further notes their frustration at the refusal of the Government to discuss adequately the crisis in education caused by their policy on testing and their scepticism about the Dearing Inquiry; and, in the light of the massive and overwhelming opposition to this year's tests at seven and 14 years from teachers, parents and educationalists, calls on the Prime Minister to end the instability in schools by withdrawing the compulsion to test at seven and 14 years this term, and by appointing a new ministerial team at the Department for Education.
