Conservative Party Finances

That this House demands that the Conservative Party should now come clean about its financial balance sheet; notes that between 1979 and 1984 it failed to publish its unaudited accounts and in the years since only an internal office memorandum was produced without a balance sheet; points out that the income and expenditure do not add up and that interest payments do not reconcile with the deficit/overdraft; asks for an explanation as to the precise nature of ú71 million donations in the past eight years with more than ú30 million coming from abroad, including ú11 million from Hong Kong and Chinese Government-related sources, thus jeopardising United Kingdom policy in respect of the Hong Kong handover; and calls for a full scale public inquiry into the donations from Asil Nadir, the Sultan of Brunei, John Latsis, Michael Ashcroft, the Hinduja family, Ronald Lyon, Jack Lyons, N.E.I. and Li Kia Shing and Rong Kiren, both representatives of the Chinese Government.
