PROPOSED CLOSURE OF ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AT ST BARTHOLOMEW'S HOSPITAL

That this House condemns the Secretary of State for Health for her proposal to close the Accident and Emergency Department at St. Bartholomew's Hospital; believes that the Evening Standard is right to say that, in the light of the events of this week-end, her action takes on an aura of total irresponsibility; and calls on her to accept the advice of medical staff, the City of London police and honourable Members of this House to drop her proposal.
