Mr Jim Robinson
EDM number 1789 in 1992-93, proposed by Chris Mullin on 19/04/1993.
That this House notes that Mr Jim Robinson, one of four men convicted in 1979 of the murder of the newspaper boy Carl Bridgewater, has endured 56 days and nights in atrocious conditions on the roof of Her Majesty's Prison Gartree, in an attempt to draw the attention of the Home Secretary to his innocence and that of his co-defendants; regrets that the Home Office appears to have learned no lessons from previous miscarriages of justice; further regrets that the British legal system appears to have left Mr Robinson, who will be 60 years old in January, with no other avenues for demonstrating his innocence; and calls on the Home Secretary to refer Jim Robinson's conviction and that of his co-defendants back to the Court of Appeal without delay.
