London Travelcard

EDM number 1788 in 1992-93, proposed by Alan Keen on 19/04/1993.

That this House notes that three million Londoners benefit a week from the Travelcard currently being issued by LT and BR and that the freedom given by the scheme is a positive boost to tourism and the economy; is particularly concerned that under the privatisation proposals contained in the Railway Bill this scheme would be lost; and thus calls upon the Government to ensure that the support for this scheme as illustrated by the Save the Travelcard campaign is recognised and acted upon to keep this essential service.
