Faroese Pilot Whale Slaughter

EDM number 1775 in 1992-93, proposed by Tony Banks on 16/04/1993.

That this House expresses its utter disgust at the continuing slaughter of pilot whales in the Faroe Islands; considers there is no excuse nor economic justification for this barbarous activity; believes that the authorities in the Faroe Islands who have consistently ignored European public opinion and the demands of the International Whaling Commission must be taught a lesson; requests shoppers to boycott all Faroese products; and calls upon food retailers such as Marks and Spencer plc. to cease purchasing fish from the Faroe Seafood Company Ltd. until the slaughter of pilot whales is ended.
