Warrington Health Authority And Private Practice

That this House notes the Warrington Health Authority memo to consultant medical staff, senior registrars and registrars, dated 22nd March, highlighting the fact that members of the hospital medical staff have been treating patients on a private basis, and therefore diverting finance and resources away from the hospital; questions why Warrington Health Authority did not take any action to prevent this occurring while Warrington General Hospital was under the control of the Health Authority, yet is suddenly stirred into life as the hospital is about to become a trust, by requesting that they no longer treat patients on a private basis as this will divert funds from the hospital; and recognises that this is an example of the flawed thinking and hypocrisy behind the health service reforms which put profit before patients.
