Snp And The Committee Of The Regions

That this House notes the terms of the SNP Campaign Handbook - Independence in Europe, Section 1, Page 20, version 2, which states that the proposed Committee of the Regions is light years away from a Europe of the Regions and that it is imperative that Scots are not fooled by the unionists' self-interested plan to regionalise Scotland in Europe and that involvement in a 'toothless regional Committee which would lock Scotland out of decision-making in the European Community to the continued detriment of Scotland's national interests'; calls upon the honourable Member for Banff and Buchan to explain why, on 8th March, the SNP voted with the Government in support of the Committee of the Regions and in the words of Mr Jim Sillars 'soiled the soul of the Party'; and further calls on the honourable Member to publish the detail of the SNP agreement with the Government and all relevant correspondence with the Government Ministers so that his reasons for setting aside the official view of his party may be brought into the public domain.
