Homelessness In Scotland

That this House calls for emergency action on Scotland's homeless; is shocked that youth homelessness among those aged 16 and 17 years has increased by 50 per cent. since 1989; furthermore deplores the fact that 105,000 single people are on Scotland's housing waiting list; calls on Her Majesty's Government to deal immediately with this scandalous housing problem created by a Government that has deliberately failed the plight of the homeless; and further calls for agencies and local authorities to be prosecuted if they rent out houses that are unfit for human habitation and do not come up to the standard required by the Public Health Act 1897.
