Home Economics Teaching In Schools
EDM number 1668 in 1992-93, proposed by Alan Meale on 23/03/1993.
That this House is concerned about moves within the Department for Education to revise the educational role of home economics within schools, a part of the syllabus which currently trains school children to understand the importance of nutrition, diet, and other life skills such as those learnt from meal planning, food production, cooking and safety; sees such teaching of young people as being of great importance to them; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to desist from the introduction of such change which is unsound, unnecessary and unwanted.
This motion has been signed by a total of 66 MPs.
