Sheep Dips
EDM number 1644 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 18/03/1993.
That this House calls attention to new evidence of the harmful effects of organophosphorus sheep dips, highlighted in the Channel 4 programme, Close to Home, which was shown on Thursday 18th March; expresses its concern at the Government's failure to identify the need for long-term studies into this area; notes with continuing interest the steps the Government has taken to control the use of organophosphorus sheep dips after some considerable cross party pressure; recognises that the Veterinary Products Committee has been asked if it would be prudent to have a moratorium on the use of organophosphorus sheep dips prior to the conclusion of the review later this year; and calls upon the Veterinary Products Committee to furnish its advice with uttermost urgency.
This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs.
