Selection For Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith
EDM number 1640 in 1992-93, proposed by Win Griffiths on 18/03/1993.
That this House expresses its great concern that the Secretary of State for Education should have decided to change the character of the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Penrith, where entrance will be by selection; and condemns the Secretary of State for dividing the communities of Penrith and the surrounding area by approving a selective school which was opposed by the vast majority of respondents and turns the educational clock back 30 years to the detriment of the children of Penrith and its surrounds.
This motion has been signed by a total of 47 MPs.
