Conduct Of Scottish National Party Honourable Members (No. 2)
EDM number 1571 in 1992-93, proposed by Jim Hood on 10/03/1993.
That this House notes that the honourable Members of the Scottish National Party in their behind closed doors deal with the Scottish Secretary of State described their betrayal as a good deal for Scotland; considers that their support for the patronage of the Tories to appoint quangos to represent Scotland is objectionable; believes that the Labour's amendment to have elected councillors representing Scotland on the Committee of the Regions was in the finest democratic traditions of the Scottish people by allowing the people to speak through the ballot box; further considers that their act of betrayal will never be forgotten by Scots; and agrees with Jim Sillars when he says 'It is no wonder they call us Tartan Tories'.
