Importation And Sale Of Offensive Weapons

That this House notes with concern and horror the ease with which weapons of war such as particular types of knives, crossbows and other weapons which serve no practical purpose and which are designed to maim and kill are easily obtainable from certain shops and retail outlets; notes that most of these weapons are imported; further notes with additional concern the increasing practice of mail order catalogues being sent to people on an unsolicited basis by firms within the United Kingdom and abroad and which advertise such weapons as being readily available by mail order; and calls upon the Government to outlaw the importation and sale of such weapons and to make it an offence to do so.
