Secure Unit Provision In Lancashire

That this House notes with concern that there is no secure unit to provide care for boys in the whole of Lancashire and Cumbria; further notes that some young people from Lancashire are having to be placed in secure units as far away as Avon and County Durham; recognises that although there is some secure unit provision in other parts of the North West Region, much of this is taken up by young people from parts of the country where there is little or no provision; and therefore calls upon the Government to give both funding and permission to Lancashire County Council to open the Dales Secure Unit in Fylde as a matter or urgency.
