Future Of The Liverpool Urban Programme
EDM number 1479 in 1992-93, proposed by David Alton on 25/02/1993.
That this House notes that the Liverpool Urban Programme will be reduced from ú17.2 million in 1992-93 to ú11.3 million in 1993-94 and ú5.7 million in 1994-95; notes that this will prevent the city from proceeding with any new projects in 1993-94 and will prevent work commencing on a number of schemes, including St. George's Hall Phase 5 refurbishment works, improved passenger facilities at Central Bus Station and improvements in Chinatown, and would lead to the scrapping of holiday pay schemes for local children; and therefore calls on the Department of the Environment to hold urgent talks with the leaders of Liverpool City Council to resolve this matter and to ensure that these excellent projects are not lost.
