Edinburgh Summit Democracy Declaration
EDM number 1467 in 1992-93, proposed by Ray Michie on 25/02/1993.
That this House notes the enthusiasm and political momentum generated by the democracy rally at the European Summit in Edinburgh; notes also that the 25,000 people who rallied and marched represented the largest political demonstration for 20 years in Scotland; believes that the people of Scotland had the clear and legitimate expectation that all the political leaders who endorsed the democracy declaration on 12th December did so in good faith and should now be attempting to implement it; and demands that a summit meeting of the Opposition leadership should be held immediately taking as the agenda all of the proposals for constitutional action produced by the STUC General Secretary Mr Campbell Christie, with the objective that the Scottish Parliament should now be recalled from its adjournment in terms of the democracy declaration.
This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
