Tourism In The United Kingdom
EDM number 1451 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 23/02/1993.
That this House deplores the announcement of redundancies at the British Tourist Authority and the English Tourist Board; believes that this is a direct consequence of the cuts in Government funding; recognises the importance of tourism to the British economy and believes that it is vital that the Government has a comprehensive strategy for tourism; and calls for a fair system of investment grants to be implemented by Her Majesty's Government to allow the development of a flourishing and vibrant tourism industry throughout the whole of the United Kingdom.
