Charges For Home Helps In Brent

That this House notes that in the year since Brent Council's Conservative administration introduced a ú9 per week charge for home helps in order to raise ú345,000 the number of pensioners using the service has been cut by 1,058 and that of the 70 pensioners who appealed against the charge only one has been exempted; and invites the Tory leader of Brent Council, Councillor Bob Blackman, to submit a report to the Prime Minister on the effect of this measure on the achievement of a classless society.
