LONDON'S LICENSING LAWS

EDM number 135 in 1992-93, proposed by Brian Wilson on 21/05/1992.

That this House congratulates the supporters of Barcelona and Sampdoria on their exemplary, good-natured behaviour while in London for the European Cup final; understands their astonishment at the discovery that, by the time they had returned from Wembley Stadium, just about every pub in London was shut, which must have seemed very odd to people from Barcelona and Genoa; suggests that London starts adjusting its licensing laws to fit the role of a modern European capital; and recommends that it looks north to Scotland where the liberalisation of licensing laws, particularly to coincide with big occasions, has been an overwhelming success.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
