Prime Minister And Tobacco Promotion In India
EDM number 1322 in 1992-93, proposed by Sam Galbraith on 04/02/1993.
That this House condemns the inclusion of Mr Norman Davis of British American Tobacco Co. ltd. among the industrialists accompanying the Prime Minister to India; considers that there is an inconsistency and hypocrisy in a government policy which discourages smoking in the United Kingdom but promotes it abroad; hopes that our economic recovery is not to be based on the export of heart disease, lung disease and cancer; and calls on the Government to halt all tobacco promotion in the United Kingdom and abroad.
This motion has been signed by a total of 61 MPs.
