Incitement To Hatred
EDM number 1290 in 1992-93, proposed by John D Taylor on 01/02/1993.
That this House notes the presence of three members of the Birmingham Six at a rally in Londonderry on Sunday 31st January; utterly condemns the incitement to kill contained in the speech of one of the Birmingham Six, Mr Paddy Hill, who exhorted the crowd to send the British soldiers back to London in boxes; recognises the hurt that this has caused to most people in Northern Ireland; deplores the bitterness which such irresponsible speeches create; is alarmed at the impact of such incitement on young people and its potential to encourage terrorist violence; records that members of the Birmingham Six have such views and openly express them; and calls upon the Attorney General to invite the Director of Public Prosecutions to consider a prosecution of Mr Paddy Hill for incitement to hatred.
