Royal National Lifeboat Institution And Value Added Tax

That this House notes with concern that the Royal National Lifeboat Institution has a VAT bill of approximately Ãº750,000 per annum which has to be paid out of the voluntary contributions given to it by its 50, 000 joint shoreline members; recognises that the Royal National Lifeboat Institution provides a totally free service which is run and staffed entirely by volunteers, many of whom risk their lives in atrocious sea conditions; and calls upon the Government to introduce a VAT rebate scheme in the 1993 budget which will benefit the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
