School Meals In Lancashire

That this House notes with disgust the proposal by Lancashire's Conservative county councillors to save money by cutting back on food served in schools to those on free dinners, their proposal that secondary school pupils entitled to free school meals should be given only the amount of food allocated to primary school pupils and their proposal that the cost of a meal be raised from 95p to ú1 because 'it would be easier to pay'; expresses its belief that the proposal demonstrates the Conservatives' determination to make the disadvantaged bear the brunt of the recession; and congratulates Labour and Liberal county councillors for throwing out, and the parents, teachers and governors in the public gallery for walking out in disgust, at the Conservative proposals.
