Band World Championships

EDM number 1169 in 1992-93, proposed by James Molyneaux on 14/01/1993.

That this House notes that 50 years after the battle of El Alamein, the Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band from Carryduff brought the World Pipe Band Championship and the World Supreme Champion of Champions titles to Northern Ireland; congratulates them, the Geoghan Memorial Pipe Band (Rathfriland) on being first in Grade IV, and the Killygoogan Orchestral Accordion Band (Northern Antrim) on a similar success at world level; pays tribute to those who teach music, enhancing the cultural life of Northern Ireland; and draws the attention of the national media to this positive aspect of Northern Ireland, so often ignored in reporting.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
