Compliance With The Court Judgment 21st December 1992

EDM number 1143 in 1992-93, proposed by Michael Clapham on 12/01/1993.

That this House welcomes the clarification of the status of the 10 pits by the Court on 21st December 1992; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade who acted unlawfully when he announced the separation of the 10 pits from the other 21 pits in the moratorium on 19th October 1992, to now comply with the Judgement, put all 31 pits into the moratorium, to accept that if a proposal for closure of any of the pits is made by British Coal it will go through the modified Colliery Review Procedure which includes an independent element of scrutiny, and to guarantee that redundancy terms for mineworkers whose pit is in the procedure machinery will be protected until the process is completed.
