Use Of Plutonium
EDM number 1106 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Flynn on 16/12/1992.
That this House notes the publication of the ISIS parliamentary briefing No. 31 in November 1992 on Britain and Plutonium; welcomes the helpful contribution made to the knowledge of honourable Members by such briefings on complex issues; recognises the problem of stockpiling and exporting of fuel and reactor grade plutonium at Sellafield identified by the two expert authors of the ISIS paper, is a matter of international, diplomatic and security concern; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to heed the authors' conclusions that re-use of plutonium in nuclear fuels is an uneconomic and industrially unnecessary option.
