Deactivated Shotguns
EDM number 1081 in 1992-93, proposed by John Cummings on 15/12/1992.
That this House notes and congratulates the Editor, staff and investigative journalists in drawing to the attention of the public in the 14th December edition of the Sunderland Echo the ease with which shotguns that have been deactivated can be purchased by the public; further notes the grave concern of the police who must deal with armed robbers, not knowing whether the shotguns used are lethal or deactivated; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to bring forward as a matter of urgency legislation to prevent such weapons being freely sold to members of the public.
This motion has been signed by a total of 33 MPs.
