Cycling In Cambridge
EDM number 108 in 1992-93, proposed by Nick Harvey on 20/05/1992.
That this House notes with dismay the ban imposed by Cambridgeshire County Council with effect from 1st June on the use of bicycles in Cambridge city centre; condemns Conservative and Labour county councillors for voting in favour of this internationally ridiculed scheme; regrets the disruption the ban will cause to the lives of Cambridge residents and the likely consequent increase in the use of motor vehicles; and calls on the county council to lift the ban and concentrate instead of limiting the movement of motor vehicles and improving the signposting and demarcation of cycle lanes for the greater safety of cyclists, motorists and pedestrians.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
