Support For Rural Upland Areas
EDM number 1050 in 1992-93, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 10/12/1992.
That this House recognises the value of hill livestock compensatory allowances in disadvantaged and seriously disadvantaged areas and as a crucial component of public support for farming; further recognises the importance of farming in upland areas for environmental, social and economic reasons and that upland rural communities rely on agriculture for their very survival; and condemns the proposal on the part of the Government to cut support to hill farmers, thus putting the livelihoods of thousands of farmers and the survival of many communities at risk.
This motion has been signed by a total of 54 MPs.
