EDM number 1045 in 1992-93, proposed by Michael Colvin on 09/12/1992.

That this House views with extreme concern developments in Angola, following the legislative and presidential elections of 29th and 30th September; condemns the massacres in Luanda on 31st October and 1st November and subsequent killings of members of the Ovimbundu and other tribes; further condemns the detention of at least 500 UNITA officials and supporters, without charges and against their will; calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees in Angola; further calls on all parties to respect the UN ceasefire and to return to the negotiating table to agree the modalities for a second presidential ballot; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to press for additional resources to be deployed by the international community, to monitor the run-off elections which must be seen to be free, fair and transparent.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
