Referendum On Maastricht (No. 2)

EDM number 1029 in 1992-93, proposed by Bob Cryer on 08/12/1992.

That this House notes that a recent survey of over 7,000 voters indicated that 75 per cent. of those interviewed called for a referendum on Maastricht; that this figure was even higher in Yorkshire; and that a majority also indicated that membership of the EEC had failed to provide benefits for the United Kingdom; notes that the cost of EEC membership between 1980 & 1990 was ú14 billion, mostly spent on the creation of food mountains through the Common Agricultural Policy; and firmly endorses the call for a referendum on the Maastricht Treaty before the country is further enmeshed in the expensive, bureaucratic, inefficient, anti-democratic and damaging European Community.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
