Banking Action Group
EDM number 1024 in 1992-93, proposed by Nigel Evans on 08/12/1992.
That this House notes the rise of complaints made against the banks featured in the Banking Ombudsman's Annual Report and the wide concerns of small businesses highlighted by a report of the newly created Banking Action Group, namely overcharging of interest, confusion over interest rate policies, artificial floors which do not pass on interest rate cuts, high account fees with poor publicity on charging and a demand for longer-term lending policies which will establish a secure foundation for their customers; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to raise the problems listed in these two reports directly with the banks at the earliest opportunity.
