Democracy In Kuwait
EDM number 853 in 1991-92, proposed by Win Griffiths on 13/03/1992.
That this House, recalling the sacrifices of Kuwaiti, American, British and troops of other countries, as well as the suffering of civilians caught up in the struggle to liberate Kuwait, expresses its grave concern that the Kuwaiti government is seeking to intimidate members of the new democracy movement by requesting foreign embassies in Kuwait, including the United Kingdom's, not to do business with them and is resisting international demands for observers to oversee the forthcoming elections; and urges the Government to make the strongest representations to the Kuwaiti government to re-order its priorities and support the development of democracy as a lasting tribute to those who fought to free Kuwait from Saddam Hussein.
