University In Teesside
EDM number 844 in 1991-92, proposed by David Shaw on 10/03/1992.
That this House notes Early Day Motion Number 1308 of 1987-88 in which several members of the Labour Party condemned the honourable Member for Stockton South for 'engaging in baseless fantasy' over his claims that the Conservative Government were going to 'turn Teesside into a centre for scientific and technological excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate level by attracting a university' and that the honourable Labour Members called for an apology to the people of Cleveland for raising their hopes; further notes that work is now well advanced on the new University College on Teesside, based on the riverside in the Stockton South constituency, which will open for students in September 1992; applauds the efforts of the Government to bring this about; and calls upon all the said Labour Party members to apologise to the honourable Member for Stockton South for doubting the validity of his public statements.
This motion has been signed by a total of 4 MPs.
