Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Copeland And Opposition Claims

EDM number 789 in 1991-92, proposed by Edwina Currie on 03/03/1992.

That this House notes with amazement the assertion by the honourable Member for Copeland at a Labour Press Conference on 3rd March that '79 per cent. of people' think that their financial situation has worsened over the last 13 years, whereas in fact the true poll figure was less than half that, while the average rise in real take-home pay for a married man is 37 per cent. under the Conservative Government compared with 1 per cent. under the previous Labour Government; and calls on the official Opposition to replace their slogan 'Conservative Britain - they'll never get it right' with one which says 'Labour can't count - and can't deliver'.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
