Future Of Liverpool Airport

EDM number 784 in 1991-92, proposed by Peter Kilfoyle on 03/03/1992.

That this House notes with alarm the decision of British Midland to pull out of operations at Liverpool Airport; expresses its extreme concern at the consequence in terms of the Merseyside economy, particularly in view of the extremely high levels of unemployment already on Merseyside; notes that Liverpool Airport's development is being hampered by the recession which was made in Downing Street; calls on the Government to enter into urgent talks with interested parties, including local authorities and trade unions, to secure new routes and alternative contracts; also notes that the next Labour Government will work closely with the relevant bodies to secure a viable future and role for the airport.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
